Buying in Times of Covid-19
Buying in Times of Covid 19

Date

As we know, COVID 19 has changed many things, and our way of buying is not the exception. Users have been forced to stay at home and use the internet to make most of their shopping’s. For users it is a great advantage you might think, but what about small shops?

It’s easy for the big brands to position themselves, we all know the big shopping websites like Amazon, and whoever says he is not, has surely heard of them.

But what about the small businesses that have been forced to promote, as they could on social networks?

Users

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook has come to the rescue, and since a couple of weeks ago, has created on its platforms (Facebook and Instagram) the option of ‘Shop’.

Facebook Shops make it easy for businesses to set up a single online store for customers to access on both Facebook and Instagram. Creating a Facebook Shop is free and simple.

Before, in Facebook we had the option of Marketplace, a place where people could put objects for sale and the user who lived near the area could contact it, pay and pick up the product. In this aspect, Facebook was like an intermediary.

At that time, people only used these kinds of places to sell and buy products, but with the ‘Shop’ option a user with a website can make a customer buy directly.

In other words, people can find Facebook Shops on a business’ Facebook Page or Instagram profile, or discover them through stories or ads. From there, you can browse the full collection, save products you’re interested in and place an order — either on the business’ website or without leaving the app. SIMPLE AS THAT.

Just like when you’re in a physical store and need to ask someone for help, in Facebook Shops you’ll be able to message a business through WhatsApp, Messenger or Instagram Direct to ask questions, get support, track deliveries and more.

Live shopping on Instagram

As crazy as it may seem, when you are on Instagram, and you are watching an Insta stories of your favourite Influencer and you fall in love with his sweater, for example, you will not have to be like a detective anymore; finding out what brand, what website, what model,… Instagram gives you the option to buy the garment directly. From Insta stories straight to your ‘shopping cart’.
